The Un-Possible Terminator

I'm watching The Terminator, Sarah Connor Chronicles. One thing that keeps occuring to me is that the whole thing is silly. If they can keep going back and forth in time there is no end to it. Even if Sarah and crew succeed in stopping the machines from taking over one moment in time the machines just transport back to another point in time and change history again. It is the never ending story. Kind of crazy. Makes the story pretty off base. I always think science fiction stories should have a backing on facts and things that work/ are possible.

I agree with you, but its still utterly addicting to me. I still want Sarah to succeed!!!

that's funny - because when I saw the first episode of this show, I thought the very same thing.

I think, to enjoy a TV show or a movie, you must be able to suspend disbelief.

I like the show Mythbusters, but I really don't give a crap about all the science crap. I just like the explosions and fire walking.

Same with Terminator...

Laura-

Strictly speaking, you are apsolutely correct. Soone or later, though, one side, the other, or possibly both will inevitably be unable to make the appointment [dinner plans, a dentist's appointment, a new "X-Files" movie, or total boredom with the whole thing]. What will happen at that moment is uncertain. Some TV cosmologists believe that the screen will go black for a few seconds, followed by the closing credits. Others don't. I tend to agree.

I have to say I'm addicted to the show. You're right that the battle to alter time is the main conflict in the story, and it will keep going back and forth until someone manages to hit a decisive blow one way or the other. Once that happens, the show is over. It works for me, but then I have a predisposition to liking time-travel stories.

I like time travel stories too. Do you ever see Doctor Who? I don't know if it made it to the US.

Dr. Who plays in the U.S. on BBC America. I've never gotten into the show. Sacrilege, I know.
