It's a silly blog title. I'm not even posting about Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Sarah Michelle Geller, not really. I just keep looking at her picture on a book cover as I sit here at my nephew's computer. He has two Buffy books on his desk.
I found this great swirling snowflake background image which I want to save. Thought this was as easy as emailing it to myself. I'm more likely to find it here versus forgetting it in my swamp of email.
I should be home again tomorrow. Almost a week of babysitting. Stretched longer cause they are supposed to be sanding the drywall in the basement and there is a lot of dust. Unless they clean up after themselves there will still be a lot of dust when I am back tomorrow but I guess the idea is that it will have settled by then.
I just want to sleep in my own bed again rather than the couch here. I want my computer too. I wonder if the milk I just bought for coffee will still be any good by the time I get back. All these little things that make a life.

Winter Screensaver
I found a gorgeous winter sceensaver at Blue Mountain. It's a free download but you do have to register first.
I hardly ever use a screensaver these days. The computer is either off or in use. But it will be nice to catch the odd glimpse of this one in between times.

Chubby Pin Babe

By Leigh Young - Doesn't seem to have a site any more. I found three sites referring to this person (can't be sure it's a woman) but all of them were 404. Would have been nice to see other creations along the same lines as this. Not often you find chubby cartoon pin-up babes for desktop wallpaper.

Pink Flamingos

They'd be funny to put up next winter.
I cut them out of a flyer from the local newspaper today.

A Good News Day

Also, I am looking forward to having that insurance money, though I am giving most of it as rent for this place, I will have enough to pay off the credit card. That will be really sweet! I will have one less bill to pay each month. Unless I use it for something of course. Still, even if I use it I won't be paying anything if I pay it off before the end of the month. It's do-able. Though I think I will avoid using it once I have it off my back.
Last of all I just had an email from the friend of my brother's who has my income tax stuff. He has it ready to be printed and sent in. Just needed a bit more information. I hope none of the stuff from when I was in the US will fluff things up. It would be so nice to have that done and get some cheques from that too. I will actually get a GST refund cheque, I've never been on the list for that even.
Funny how a few things can all happen on one day. It was a frigid day out there. I still need to go back to the Zellers on Danforth and return that spoiled cream. I usually seem to have bad luck with the cream I buy there. The expiry date is for March but here we are in early February and it's curdled. I only used it once before it went bad.
Found a nice background image which I've added here. The colours aren't quite my thing but the design is.
This morning I had a waterfall in here. It woke me up which was a good thing as it was pouring from the ceiling, through one of the pot lights and coming down just a few inches away from my TV and the wooden tv tray it sits on. Could have been ruined if I hadn't woken up and moved everything away. The upstairs people had a sink overflowing. I don't know how long it was pouring. I had time to move everything, get dressed and consider whether I should call my brother or just go upstairs and pound on their door first. I ended up taking the direct route and pounded on their door. Took awhile for her to answer but I think she realized she forgot the water when she heard me at the door. What if I handn't been home? I did plan to go out early this morning. If I had done that I would have come back to a real flood.
Quite an interesting day. Sadly I got no writing done. But it wasn't a bad day.

It's Too Cold for the Bus

Also, there was something I was supposed to do today, February 3rd. I just have no idea what it was. I hope it wasn't vitally important like preventing the destruction of the planet or ironing my socks... you never know.

The Pink Daisies

This is how they turned out as a pretty pink background image file. Maybe too wide for Blogger at this size.

Snoozing at the Keys

I'm cooking perogis for a late lunch/ early dinner. They are so good with sour cream. The afternoon soap opera is on. Some building is exploding. It all looks kind of silly. Phony. But I'm sure they are all sincere and trying hard to be dramatic. Somehow, there is just something about the way a soap opera is filmed that makes those big scenese look artificial. It might be something to do with how perfect everyone looks under the dirt smudges. People don't look that perfect, like they just stepped out of Vogue, during a catasrophe.
I stayed up writing last night. Now I am tired. I did go back to bed but it was so cold I didn't sleep much.
Tomorrow I decided not to do anything but head out to Newmarket. Makes it easier to just go to one place when the weather is so cold. I need to pack up a few overnight things. The bus takes about an hour to get from Toronto to Newmarket. It's kind of a nice trip. You can get a seat to yourself most of the time. I used to have a Walkman that I'd bring along for those long bus rides. I don't know where it is any more. Too bad the Go Bus has tinted windows, spoils the option of taking pictures out of the window along the way.
Time for those perogis. Have a great weekend if I don't get online again.
