Considering Domain Selling

I'm getting less fond of the whole grrl thing. Originally I had the domain thatgrrl.com but it was hijacked. Then I bought thatgrrl.ca which I will keep forever, I'm pretty sure. Never say forever.

But, I am thinking on and off about not keeping thegrrl.com. It seems to be liked by SEO types. I've accepted a paid ad to run on the domain this year and an invite to renew it next year. But...

I've never sold a domain and it seems I shouldn't just leave this one to be picked up by someone who will do nothing with it. My old thatgrrl.com is has been a dead end ever since they hijacked it. Sad to see it made into a spam page after all the thought I put into choosing just the right domain name for me, at the time anyway.

Has anyone sold a domain before? How did it go? How did you decide what to sell it for? Did you have regrets later?

There are a few sites around such as Sedo.com and Greatdomains.com that can help you. Usually a domains value is measured by how good the domain name is i.e common English word etc. When making the transaction the best site I found to handle the money and legal transfer is: www.escrow.com

hope this helps a bit

Thanks Ed. I checked some free domain checking things and they say the domain could be worth $1,000 to $3,000. That would be nice money. I could pick out another new domain. Seems funny that I could pay a few dollars for a domain and then sell it for so much more a short time later. They could have bought it themselves for a few dollars.
