Elicia Mackenzie wins to become Maria in The Sound of Music in Toronto. Found some of her singing from the Maria? contest on YouTube.
From Macleans:
"I have confidence in sunshine, I have confidence in me!" MacKenzie, 23, sang to reporters at the CBC studios after a live finale in which she landed the role of Maria von Trapp in a Toronto production of "The Sound of Music," set to open Oct. 3.

Awh man. I managed to miss the entire thing. Now I'm really going to have to buy tickets to the show. I already convinced my Mum to get tickets! It's going to be SO much fun - this is my absolute favourite musical in the world!
They have a Wednesday matinee which is a bit cheaper. Tickets for some of the seats are over $100. Too much for me. But I'm going to see what I can do and battle myself for price over sitting in the back 40 and not knowing if that's Elicia or a goat on stage. lol
She sparkled. Elicia, not the goat. I wasn't sure I'd really pay the $$ to see Janna. My first choice was Marisa but Elicia is great too. I voted for her over and over last night.
Oh I remember Marisa, I liked her too but I think that Elicia was the one I wanted to win from what I can remember anyway. lol I'm sure you'd be able to tell the difference between Elicia or a goat, or she wouldn't have won!
Wow, I'm not at all a cabaret fan, but she has an amazing voice!!
