Vietnamese Coffee Making

I'm on the look out for a Vietnamese coffee filter/ maker now. I read about it in Canadian Living and it looks great. I like ways to make coffee which work when you are on the road, no need for extra gear or anything special. Anyway, I am going to see if I come across the equipment for this somewhere. If it's not hugely pricey, sometimes anything that becomes trendy is suddenly expensive.

Hair, But No Clouds in My Coffee

Blogging is a full time job. I don't run ads on my blog so it's not like I'm spamming my way to fortune (snicker) but I do seem to spend a long part of my evening (and day) here doing nothing. Nothing much that anyone would notice. Tonight I've been on Flickr for at least an hour, easily. I discovered another new site that lets you create your own portal which might be useful once I get the hang of it. I was on MyBlogLog and wondering how much use it will be once Yahoo really gets a grip on it. I forget what else I poked around at. Reading a few blogs, some Technorati and checking for two links which have mysteriously become bust this week. (I'm hoping they are coming back after the end of the month when bandwidth arises again like the phoenix from it's own ashes).

On top of all that there is a damned hair in my coffee. I know it's my own hair. I drank it anyway. I let the hair cling to the side of the mug and I ignored the little trouble maker. Do you go into full panic if there is a hair in your food? I knew someone who couldn't eat something if it had a hair in it, even when it was their own hair. It didn't bother me all that much. I know where it's been afterall. I even know what brand of lovely smelling shampoo I used this morning.

Anyway, I'm glad to have coffee again, even the hairy kind. I had to go without this past week when finances were sadly depleted and I ran out of all my coffee making necessities at about the same time. So now, coffee is back in my life. Goodie for me.

Caramel Tea

I'm not a real tea drinker, sometimes I like Earl Grey or something herbal and interesting. Today I came home with Lipton's Caramel Twist tea. I've got it brewing. Isn't brewing a coffee word though. I know they brew beer but do they really brew tea too? It just doesn't seem like a real, official brewing situation. Tea soaks, it doesn't really get brewed. Maybe that's why I have never been a real tea person. That water just doesn't get pushed around enough during the tea making process.

The Caramel tea has a sweet caramel smell. In the store I tried to smell through the cellophane, no luck. I wondered what kind of caramel it would be. I love a caramel flavoured coffee, it's smooth and mellow, one of the best kinds out there (according to me). This caramel tea doesn't have that smooth, mellow smell. It's making me think of those Kraft caramel candies a lot more than a real caramel taste. I don't think it smells like the caramel you make at home by cooking sugar.

It tastes ok though. Unique, not an Earl Grey experience. But I think it will grow on me.

Folgers Coffee is Yuck!

I tried Folgers yesterday. Brewed it up last night, it was even French Vanilla which is usually my favourite when I find it somewhere. But this just tastes awful. I'm not sure there is actual coffee in there. Likely they found someother substance to grind up and dye to appear like actual coffee.

It says: "mellow and smooth with an unmistakable vanilla flavour." I did smell vanilla when I poured the first water over the grounds. It was gone when I drank the coffee.

I am going to see if I can return it. I still don't have coffee this morning/ afternoon. I didn't really and truly want to go out today but I think I am going to be forced out into the cold for coffee supplies. Besides, I do need to get to the bank and get the February bus pass.

HBCU and Coffee

I should be doing a course for work online this morning but I'm too tired. I'm even too tired to go down and make breakfast, but I'm hungry so eventually I will.

Don't you find it annoying when personal sites and blogs try to make you download something just to view their page. I never do it. Just move along to another site.

Well, coffee would be nice. I had a French Vanilla coffee from The Second Cup yesterday but it tasted just the same as Columbian or any of those strongish non-flavoured beans coffees. I was really disappointed. So rare that they brew French Vanilla and then it wasn't even that nice smooth coffee I know and like.
